Veterinary
We are very fortunate to have acquired the services of the well renowned team at Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital, Newbridge, Co. Kildare, as our Veterinary Surgeons. Please feel free to visit their website www.IrishHorseVet.com
Owners will be fully responsible for meeting all veterinary bills directly, and for any items that we consider necessary for the health and well-being of their horse.& All horses must be currently vaccinated against equine influenza and tetanus; we keep a record of vaccinations, but it is the owners responsibility to ensure that vaccinations are kept up to date.
Equine Physiotherapy
Our Equine Physiotherapists, John Roche & Graine Ni Chaba, tend to our Equine physiotherapy requirements. Both are experts in their field and give great attention to an injured or underperforming horse.
Equine Dentistry
Horses will have their teeth checked and rasped annually by our Equine Dentist, Mr Roger Munnis. Further consultations can be arranged on request.
Farrier
Our farrier, Graham Barrett checks the horses shoes regularly, and shoes them when necessary. Those new to horse ownership should note that horses can need shoeing every 3-6 weeks, with the average being every 4 weeks. It is important to let the Office, as well as the farrier, know if you would like any changes made to your horses shoes e.g. if you are competing and need stud holes. Graham invoices owners directly, and his terms of business stipulate that non-payment may mean that your horse is not re-shod.
Clipping and Trimming
We take great pride in ensuring that horses in our care are turned out to the highest standards, so we pull and trim manes and tails and trim heels etc., whenever it is required. Clipping is carried out when necessary during the Autumn and Winter months on request.
Insurance
It is the responsibility of the owner to insure their horse and tack. We are able to provide details of specialist insurers offering appropriate policies and competitive quotes.
Horse Transport
We have our own purpose-built four-horse box, which we are able to use to transport horses to shows and events. We can arrange transport for those owners wishing to compete; prices vary according to distance and the number of horses on board.
